CODE 2121 : WEEK 1 : Activity 1

When approaching this task, we decided to explore a structural system using trusses, as we thought we would gain a more cohesive understanding of joints and loads. We created a triangular system, which was hot glue gunned together, creating fixed, rigid joints. When it came to testing the structure, it was able to hold up 7.5 kg before collapsing. After analysing the video, and the collapsed structure, It can be seen that the sticks did not break, nor did any of the connections. Instead, the structure slightly skewed towards the right. This was because there was no cross bracing going along the short-section of the structure. If this bracing were to be implemented the structure would have been able to hold up more weight.
