EXP 3: REAL TIME IMAGES + DESCRIPTION

"BALANCE" is the name of my bridge and architectural computing school as it focuses on the balance between technology and architecture, and (in a more literal sense) because it balances between two other buildings.
A unique feature of my bridge is that it requires the existence of other buildings to become a structure, this creates a symbiotic relationship in the "city of the future".
The aim of "BALANCE" is to redefine civilisation in terms of architecture  in  the near in the future.
Although the entire structure is man made and floats above the city, there is also a strong presence of natural environment in the folly and on the roof of the studio buildings.

EXP 3: FOLLY

PERSPECTIVE INFLUENCE:

The folly is mounted  onto the exterior of another building. Conceptually, it focuses on the relationships between the digital and physical, natural and artificial. The solid cubic  structure is broken down by a rough rock-like structure creating a sense of harmony.  The digital  texture placed on the middle wall is used to symbolise the rapid technological advancements of our time. The trees are used as a reminder of the respect to the natural environment

EXP 3: TEXTURE

Linear texture:  inspired by the circuit board, I decided to use this texture as a pathway. Instead of tiling the texture I decided to individually place it. This helps create a sense of direction.

"Moving" into the future: inspired by QR codes and binary. This texture is used to break the flow of movement and to indicate the entrance of the lecture room.

Vector texture:  follows the direction of the sky gondola

EXP 3: MOVING ELEMENTS

MOVING ELEMENT 1: SKY GONDOLA
The first moving element on my bridge is a sky gondola. It is a carriage which attaches onto the structural elements of the bridge and carries passengers to all three levels of the school. The school could have simply used an elevator to connect the three levels together, however the use of the sky gondola creates a more human interactive experience. It is a way of avoiding the replacement of human communication.

MOVING ELEMENT 2 : LED SCREEN
The second moving element on my bridge is a large LED screen which moves vertically from the lecture room on the bridge, up to the amphitheatre on the roof of the third floor. This creates a sense of digital flow within the school. It is a way of designing and applying technology to augment.
